چکیده
Objective: This study aims to compare the therapeutic effects of conservative manual reduction therapy and open reduction therapy on pediatric forearm fracture. Methods: A total of 68 patients with pediatric forearm fracture were chosen in our hospital as participants from January 2015 to January 2016. The patients were divided into the observation group (open reduction therapy) and the control group (conservative manual reduction therapy). Each group comprised 34 patients, and the therapeutic effects were compared. Results: The observation and control groups show statistically significant differences (P<0.05) in terms of length of stay, time of operation, and intraoperative hemorrhage. The healing rates of the observation and control groups are 94.12% and 76.47%, respectively, indicating a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). On the basis of the data obtained from the nine-month follow-up visits to patients, the joint functional recovery rates of the observation and control groups reach 97.06% and 79.41%, respectively, showing a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusions: Open reduction therapy to patients with pediatric forearm fracture achieves better therapeutic effect compared with conservative manual reduction therapy and is worthy of application to clinical practices.

A Conservative Method for Treating Severely Displaced Pediatric Mandibular Fractures: An Effective Alternative Technique
Pediatric mandibular fractures have been successfully managed in various ways. The use of a lingual splint is an option. This article presents a 4-year old boy who was treated by an alternative conservative method with a combination of an arch bar plus a lingual splint, circum-mandibular wiring and IMF for the reduction, stabilization and fixation of a severely displaced bilateral mandibular b...

متن کاملIntramedullary nailing for paediatric diaphyseal forearm bone fracture.
BACKGROUND Though most of the pediatric diaphyseal forearm bone fracture can be treated with closed reduction and cast application, indications for operative intervention in pediatric both-bone forearm fractures include open fractures, irreducible fractures, and unstable fractures. Controversy exists as to what amount of angulation, displacement, and rotation constitutes an acceptable reduction...
متن کاملClosed Reduction versus Open Reduction and Pin Fixation in Pediatric Type III Supracondylar Humeral Fractures
Background Supracondylar humeral fractures constitute about 60% and 13% of all pediatric elbow and pediatric skeletal fractures, respectively, with a peak incidence in the 5-7 years age group. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare closed reduction with open reduction and pin fixation in type III supracondylar humeral fractures in children younger than...
متن کاملA case report of plastic deformity of fibula and fracture of tibia
Background: Plastic deformity is a fixed deformity of bones after application of force which is in contrast to elastic deformity, so it remains unchanged. It is a rare condition and is seen more commonly in upper extremity (forearm). Inability to recognize it causes limitation of motion and remaining of angular deformity. It occurs more commonly in children because of flexibility of their bones...
